Jazz and Improvisation

Jazz Private Instruction in all instruments

Jazz improvisation offers an alternative to traditional lessons. This program is run by Wade Beach and Mike Maher, who teach students fundamental jazz techniques, the basics of improvisation, jazz theory, history, reading, harmonization, and performance using a jazz and blues repertoire curriculum. Students also receive an opportunity to use new skills jamming with a professional rhythm section. Students applying should have the basic music reading skills.

Jazz Ensemble

Participation in jazz ensemble is an enriching part of every young musician's development. Participation in these groups nurtures musicianship and reinforces reading and ensemble skills. Students also develop awareness of blending and balance, and the ability to listen to one's own music and music of other musicians at the same time. These classes/rehearsals stress intonation, cueing, rhythmic security and cooperation. This program is run by Wade Beach and Mike Maher who also teach students fundamental jazz technique, harmonization, and performance using a jazz and blues repertoire curriculum in a group setting.

Jazz instruction is available in: piano, guitar, saxophone, voice, and drums.
