Early Childhood Music Program

For children 6 months to 5 years old

Fall session starts September 15th

Spring session starts February 1st

Our Early Childhood Music program is a nurturing, fun, interactive group program for children ages 6 months to 5 years old, where children develop physically, emotionally, cognitively, and socially through playful participation and exploration. In this class they learn the fundamentals of music including rhythm, melody, notation and an introduction to orchestral instruments. The rhythm component they learn by doing fun games with rhythm sticks, triangles, shakers, hand drums, etc. For the melody component they learn the concepts through lots of singing. They will learn high – low, loud – soft, pitch, major – minor, etc. For notation they learn how to recognize musical symbols such as tremble clef, bass clef, half note, whole note, etc. (Much the same as learning your alphabet before you learn how to read.) We also teach them how to recognize all the instruments of the orchestra both by sight and sound. The preschool music classes are taught by our patient, fun and encouraging instructors with university degrees in music who love working with young children. The preschool music program prepares students to go on into private instrument lessons when they are older.

Infant Preludes: (Newborn - 18 months) with caregiver

Our infant classes provide babies a gentle introduction to music as well as a special musical time with their parent/caregiver. Through playful learning, infants discover musical ideas like dance, song, exercise and exploration of instruments and movements. Making music and reacting to song and dance enhances coordination, language, creativity, and thinking skills.

Toddler Tones: (18 months - 3 years) with caregiver

Feeling an inner beat, establishing self control, and learning creativity are just a few benefits of this Early Childhood Music class. This class lays the foundation for future study and helps foster the development of critical musical attributes needed for private instruction. These fundamentals are taught through music, song, dance, and chant. Children will have the opportunity to explore pitched and non-pitched instruments. Students in this class grow though vocal, instrumental, and imaginary play. These group lessons encourage self-confidence and at the same time allow the quiet child to observe and absorb new information. Imagination, motor skills, and expression are enhanced through these classes.

Movement & Music (3 - 5 years) without caregiver

This class is a wonderful preparation for private instrumental lessons. Young children will explore vocal ranges, whole body movement, steady beat, imagination, music history, and musical notation. Through play and music, students learn fundamental musical concepts that enhance their education and give them a head start in other classes. This class specifically helps to foster self-confidence, motor skills, and language development. Movement & Music is a great choice for the child that loves music but is not ready for private instruction.
